The Tingal people are a small ethnic group which is part of the larger Zaghawa group. They live in western Sudan, especially near El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur. Their Tingal language is a dialect of Zaghawa.
The Tingal people farm and herd livestock. The constant conflict in Darfur has forced many of them to flee Sudan and settle in Chad.
The Tingal people are folk Muslims. They are officially Muslim, but they blend Islam with spirit worship. Their faith is divided between Allah and the gods of their ancestors.
The Tingal people need to put their hope in the King of kings, realizing that he is the one who gives them worth and dignity.
